My rescue is hiding and barely eating — is that normal?
Very. Most dogs need around three days just to decompress and up to three weeks to start settling — the kit's first week is built entirely around giving them that space. If they won't eat or drink for more than a day or two, call your vet.
Is the approach force-free?
Completely — reward-based and gentle on a dog who may have had a rough start. We never recommend punishment, which tends to deepen fear in a rescue.
